the art of making do with what's on hand
No matter how the day's adventures go, there is nearly always a point where we both stop, jump into the ocean (and/or the shower) and then come up with delicious things to eat and drink, because boat life makes people hungry!
A few days ago our generator ceased purring along happily and stopped running altogether with a loud clanking noise. Don is very sad. :( This means we currently have no way to run our refrigeration or air conditioning as they are AC power based!
On the plus side, we are reducing our carbon footprint this week and getting our energy solely from the sun. Luckily we just reconfigured our solar panels, so we now have enough power to keep the lights on and make water to drink, cook, and clean with.
With no fridge running currently, we aren't buying any groceries either... so it is time to base meal planning on what needs to be eaten before it's too late.
Making little slabs of carrot
Some for the salad
